#trending With God

Have you ever been told you have bad taste? Bad taste in food, dating, and even clothes?! We all have gone through our seasons of bad taste in our lifetime (can I get an Amen?). When we go through these phases, we wonder why no one EVER told us! Maybe it was us just holding on tight to the fact we actually looked kinda cool. What was cool yesterday isn’t cool today, but what was cool long ago, always seems finds its way back. This is how trends work right?

Whatever happened to #trending with God? Maybe we stopped following and growing in our faith. Maybe we stopped reading the word or going to Church ages ago! Maybe something happened that prevented you from going to Church. Maybe you just lost your way somewhere. Today I invite you to bring back into your heart what’s always on-trend. Our God never goes out of style-God has been, always will be, and is. Maybe you just need another layer to be reminded of what you’ve been neglecting in your spiritual life or what you’ve been missing.

Todays verses are little bite sized chunks, but it has some great knowledge we can meditate on, dissect, and put into movement or action today. Let’s take a moment to go over scripture and get reminded of what God says in on-trend. If we just open a bible or write some of this down, we can easily digest it and understand what He want’s us to hear. We will not be swayed by new fads or what’s going on around us. Let us read this scripture and be reminded of what trend we should be following or maybe going back to.

Those who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the power of the age to come- and who then turn away from God, it is impossible to bring such people back to repentance; by rejecting the son of God they themselves are nailing themselves to the cross once again holding him up to public shame.

Hebrews 6:4-6

Essentially, God is calling us to remember his WORD and his GOODNESS though this verse. Maybe we remember a song that made us feel His presence or a sermon that pierced us at the right time. This is the taste of God, and we need to remember that He is present even if we cannot see Him. This verse really means 2 things; 1 is to remember to stay in the word so that we don’t become stale and drifting far away. Secondly, he calls us to remember His goodness. This is a calling for someone to be back in order with God. Maybe you drifted off somewhere you can’t even put a finger on when you really stopped having a relationship with God. Maybe we can begin to stop living worldly and digest something spiritually. This is a time to refresh and to reflect. Today I invite you to not think about what’s ahead, but to think about what God has to say through His infallible word.

God want’s to meet with you right here to share a word of wisdom or something that encourages someone right now. Looking back at bad trends or phases can be fun, but God wants us to remember that He never goes out of style.

God calls us to look to our examples in people of faith too. What this means is making sure we are still loving people, caring for the sick, and encouraging other believers just like people of faith. These examples can be hard to find, but you know at least a few you can model after. Sometimes it’s about doing what you are reading. Maybe you feel like you are doing all of it, but you still feel far from Him and things just aren’t going as you planned. This next verse is a promise for those that feel stuck in their faith.

He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to Him by caring for other believers, as you still do.

Hebrews 6:10-11

When we get with God and reflect on this promises and read our bible and we can step out in a new faith that can have effects all around us.

As the season changes, we can think of all the ways to layer up, but that one thing we should be remembering, is to layer up with Gods word first. This time of the year can be difficult for a lot of people and a lonely time. If you are tired of feeling this way, maybe now is the time to layer up spiritully. This season let’s grab coffee with a friend, or help a neighbor, or just simply write down some scripture. God never changes, but he can put a new spirit in you and lead you.

Our great desire is that you keep on loving others as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true. Then you will be spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit Gods promises because of their faith and endurance.

Hebrews 6:11-12

If you have never stepped out into faith and accepted God into your heart, today I encourage you to do so. Before the holidays is a perfect time to get into some time with God. If you have gone astray, recall what it was like when you were walking with Him and invite Him back into your heart with this simple prayer.
