#trending With God

Have you ever been told you have bad taste? Bad taste in food, dating, and even clothes?! We all have gone through our seasons of bad taste in our lifetime (can I get an Amen?). When we go through these phases, we wonder why no one EVER told us! Maybe it was us just holding on tight to the fact we actually looked kinda cool. What was cool yesterday isn’t cool today, but what was cool long ago, always seems finds its way back. This is how trends work right?

Whatever happened to #trending with God? Maybe we stopped following and growing in our faith. Maybe we stopped reading the word or going to Church ages ago! Maybe something happened that prevented you from going to Church. Maybe you just lost your way somewhere. Today I invite you to bring back into your heart what’s always on-trend. Our God never goes out of style-God has been, always will be, and is. Maybe you just need another layer to be reminded of what you’ve been neglecting in your spiritual life or what you’ve been missing.

Todays verses are little bite sized chunks, but it has some great knowledge we can meditate on, dissect, and put into movement or action today. Let’s take a moment to go over scripture and get reminded of what God says in on-trend. If we just open a bible or write some of this down, we can easily digest it and understand what He want’s us to hear. We will not be swayed by new fads or what’s going on around us. Let us read this scripture and be reminded of what trend we should be following or maybe going back to.

Those who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the power of the age to come- and who then turn away from God, it is impossible to bring such people back to repentance; by rejecting the son of God they themselves are nailing themselves to the cross once again holding him up to public shame.

Hebrews 6:4-6

Essentially, God is calling us to remember his WORD and his GOODNESS though this verse. Maybe we remember a song that made us feel His presence or a sermon that pierced us at the right time. This is the taste of God, and we need to remember that He is present even if we cannot see Him. This verse really means 2 things; 1 is to remember to stay in the word so that we don’t become stale and drifting far away. Secondly, he calls us to remember His goodness. This is a calling for someone to be back in order with God. Maybe you drifted off somewhere you can’t even put a finger on when you really stopped having a relationship with God. Maybe we can begin to stop living worldly and digest something spiritually. This is a time to refresh and to reflect. Today I invite you to not think about what’s ahead, but to think about what God has to say through His infallible word.

God want’s to meet with you right here to share a word of wisdom or something that encourages someone right now. Looking back at bad trends or phases can be fun, but God wants us to remember that He never goes out of style.

God calls us to look to our examples in people of faith too. What this means is making sure we are still loving people, caring for the sick, and encouraging other believers just like people of faith. These examples can be hard to find, but you know at least a few you can model after. Sometimes it’s about doing what you are reading. Maybe you feel like you are doing all of it, but you still feel far from Him and things just aren’t going as you planned. This next verse is a promise for those that feel stuck in their faith.

He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to Him by caring for other believers, as you still do.

Hebrews 6:10-11

When we get with God and reflect on this promises and read our bible and we can step out in a new faith that can have effects all around us.

As the season changes, we can think of all the ways to layer up, but that one thing we should be remembering, is to layer up with Gods word first. This time of the year can be difficult for a lot of people and a lonely time. If you are tired of feeling this way, maybe now is the time to layer up spiritully. This season let’s grab coffee with a friend, or help a neighbor, or just simply write down some scripture. God never changes, but he can put a new spirit in you and lead you.

Our great desire is that you keep on loving others as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true. Then you will be spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit Gods promises because of their faith and endurance.

Hebrews 6:11-12

If you have never stepped out into faith and accepted God into your heart, today I encourage you to do so. Before the holidays is a perfect time to get into some time with God. If you have gone astray, recall what it was like when you were walking with Him and invite Him back into your heart with this simple prayer.

It’s a Wash!

Do you ever feel like everyone else seems to have it all perfectly tidy and together? They just seem to have something you never quite had? Maybe it’s not a thing, maybe it’s the way they handle life’s messiness. Even through COVID, they just seem to have that annoying cheer-y thing going on. Maybe they’re even saying “I’m #BLESSED“. I don’t know about you, but this year has a been a wash for me and my family. Problems came piling this year. Can I get an amen?

Taking this back to a more serious note, maybe you’re finding yourself in place where you feel like God can’t deal with YOUR mess, or that your sins are too great for Him.Maybe you’re thinking He can deal with them, but not you- no way! I’m here to tell someone that nothing is too great for our God!

The verse I’d like to go off of today is from Psalms. If you don’t have a Bible, you can always download the Bible app from the App Store or read the verse below.

Wash me clean from my guilt and purify me from my sin.

Psalms 51:1

A lot of us feel vas though somehow our mess is too big. I felt the same way as I began to really give my heart over to God. I’m here to tell you that you are not alone in this feeling! You somehow see everyone moving glory to glory, their house is cleaner, their kids behave better. Most of it, as we all know is an illusion, but we somehow still seem to get caught up in that lie that God isn’t sufficient in His work with us and around us. In-fact we could be believing a lie when we ARE walking with God! The enemy wants us to believe that lie, as we experience temptations to fall into sin. The truth is, we all have our messes, but nothing is too big for our God!

We can all easily fall into the ways of this world and sins by looking towards our own selfish desires. The best thing we can do is surrender and let God wash you clean. Maybe those sins were made against you or maybe someone said something when you were younger that changed the whole course of your life. You wish your life could have went a little different. Maybe you wish you could be washed clean from your past. I am here to tell you that it is possible. God can use the weakest part of your story for His glory too.

If you invite God into your heart, He can begin a work within you that he promises to finish. As he starts to chip away, clean, and rinse, he promises to make you “white as snow”. His cleansing process isn’t always easy, but it all start with accepting God into your heart. Just a tiny tiny bit, just a seed of faith. Reach out to God in the middle of your COVID mess. God is working even in the middle of COVID. He’s bringing families together, he switching jobs, creating different plans for a lot of people. We can all still find God in the middle of this pandemic, if you seek Him.

Create in me a clean heart, O God renew a loyal spirit within me.

Psalms 51:10

How Do I Get Washed?

First, you have to be willing to surrender your heart to God.

This might be your first online sermon you read all the way through, or it might be something you just kind got led to. I don’t believe in accidents and I believe you are here on purpose right in this moment! Make sure you stay connected to this online church and sign up for our newsletter so we can continue with you on this journey. You are not alone and we want to be there for you, so you can sign up through the main website menu. This is a new ministry, but I feel like God is going to reach a lot of people through this ministry. Especially online during COVID.

After you surrendered by inviting God to work on you, you’ve prayed, and you said yes to God, He will draw near to you and begin cleansing. But all of this requires faith. It’s not the kind of faith that’s easy to find, it’s the starting of a real relationship and he begins to work within you. It’s only then that you can experience His fullness, joy, and blessings. He can wash out sins like that dirty black crusted stove top! The one that no amount of products or money could work on. He can reach those hard to love places inside of you and those bruised pieces you don’t let anyone see. It all starts with a decision.

The one that makes these purple and red leaves fall, the one that dusts the mountains with snow, that very same God can wash you clean. Take a moment today in your business to open your bible and say a prayer, or step out in faith that today will be the day you start to listen to what God has to say. He is always working around us and he can work in you, even if 2020 was a wash for you too!
